Exclamación de Santa Teresa, awarded First Prize at the 32nd “2 agosto” International Composition Competition in Bologna, is a work for soprano, chorus, and orchestra. The text is a poetic adaptation of Saint Teresa of Ávila’s First Exclamation, a mystical prayer in which the author expresses the pain of being separated from God.
The music, characterized by a mystical musical language, echoes of the Spanish tradition, and a strong dramatic intensity, reinforces and amplifies the meaning of the text: the longing to overcome human imperfections, the fear of earthly existence, and the suffering of life as the path toward union with God.
Performed by Anna Cimmarrusti (soprano) and the Orchestra and Chorus of Teatro Comunale di Bologna, conducted by Marco Angius. Piazza Maggiore, Bologna, August 2, 2026.
