Pequeñas piezas españolas, awarded First Prize at the Darcos International Composition Competition (Torres Vedras, Portugal), is a work for string quartet based on dances and songs from different regions of Spain. The folkloric character of this music is combined with a modern and complex style of writing, creating an eclectic and rich musical language. At the same time, the work offers a journey through different parts of Spanish geography, exploring their distinctive characters through its three movements: I. Zortziko (Basque Country), II. Albaes (Valencia), and III. Bulería (Andalusia).
Premiered by the Ensemble Darcos on June 19, 2026.
