The lament and the sigh are the work&#8217;s central musical elements. Through its melodic line, the viola gives voice to an unheard, ignored, and powerless lament. A lament that, left unheard and misunderstood, gradually accumulates tension and sorrow until it reaches a climax, where the viola finally gives way to its cry. Afterwards, the lament recedes, leaving behind neither the pain nor the sadness.<br><br>Commissioned by the Accademia Filarmonica Romana.
